Experience Shorewood on Race Day

The Shorewood Business Improvement District (BID) welcomes spectators and racers alike! This year our route has shifted, but that won’t stop the excitement and events throughout the day.

Shorewood is a diverse and thriving urban community nestled between Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee River, close to the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Shorewood combines big-city amenities with small-town accessibility. The business district along the Oakland Avenue and Capitol Drive corridor is comprised of unique shops, superb dining options and friendly service businesses. Residents and visitors can walk or bike anywhere in the Village.

Kids Races

If you are interested in the kids races sponsored in part by Pop & Joy and The Slab along with North Shore Bank! New this year, register your kids ahead of time with the QR code below! Show your confirmation email to North Shore Bank no later than 5:30pm to get your race bib and decorate your bike! Sign ups also available on race day. Decorating and face painting will be available from 2:00pm – 6:00pm. The age grouping for the kids races will be ages 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 and 9-12 year old’s. No scooters allowed for safety purposes. All kids MUST be wearing a helmet and sign the waiver prior to racing.

At the end of the kids races, Culvers will be handing out free frozen custard – so this is an event not to miss for the kiddos!

Dairyland Mile Running Race

Back again is the Dairyland Mile Series, with a 1-mile running road race organized by Infinity Running! This race is short and fast. And there is a party; What’s not to love? Come on out to Shorewood (and Downer Avenue) during the Tour Of Americas Dairyland. The streets will be closed, the party will be bumping and we’ll be throwing down for a fast mile! Due to the race happening during the bike races we will have to enforce a minimum time of 15min per mile. Check their website for more details on registration and staging locations! Parking

Streets will begin closing at 8:00am and will remain closed until about 11:00pm for clean up.

We would like to remind residents both on the inside and the outside of the course (see map) that they will need to park their cars outside the permit area if in/out access is needed.

There will NO parking on the 4300 – 4600 blocks of Morris and Bartlett, 4300 block of Newhall and the 1400 – 1700 blocks of Glendale, Kensington and Lake Bluff, whether signs are posted or not. For those located within the interior of the race route, you will have vehicle access at the intersection of Glendale Avenue & Larkin Street in between races only. This will be the only point that Shorewood Police will allow vehicle traffic to cross the route during intervals in the race. There will be no parking allowed on the racecourse during the event.
